Acer has unveiled their latest Aspire V Nitro Black Edition along with a range of new devices like the Chromebook 11, Chromebase 24, Switch 12S, TravelMate P648 and H7 series monitors at CES 2016. The unique thing about the H7 series monitors is that, they are now the world’s first monitors sporting a Type-C port.
Starting with the Aspire Switch 12S which is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop sporting a 12.5-inch 4K display having resolution of 3,840 x 2160 pixels or Full HD having resolution of 1920 x 1080 display. It is powered by a sixth-generation Intel Core M processor and comes with 4GB or 8GB of RAM depending on the variant along with 128GB or 256GB of SSD storage. All the variants of the Aspire Switch 12S can be transformed into four different modes – notebook, tablet, display and tent. It will be available from February and the price will start from $999.99 which is the basic variant.
Acer has unveiled the latest Chromebook 11 which comes with a better and improved design which looks sturdy with Acer claiming that it will take a fall from 2 feet of height as well. It sports a 11.6-inch display with resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The Chromebook 11 is kept slim at just 0.73 inches in thickness and is light in weight as well at 2.42 pounds. It is powered by Intel Celeron Processor and the RAM starts at 2GB up to 4GB. The internal storage options are 16GB and 32GB. It comes with an SD card reader and connectivity features like Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI ports along with 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi. The Chromebook 11 will be available in February in Europe, North America, Middle East, Africa starting at $180.
Next is the Chromebase 24 which is an all-in-one desktop running on Chrome OS. It sports a 23.8-inch Full HD in-plane switching display having 10-point multi-touch feature. The Chromebase 24 is powered by an Intel Core processor making this one of the first Chromebase devices to be powered by Intel SoC’s. It comes with 8GB of internal memory and has connectivity features like 802.11ac wireless and Gigabit Ethernet.
For Business travellers the TravelMate P648 is a commercial notebook, it sports a 14-inch display with different resolutions of display types up to Full HD. It is the industry’s first notebook which sports a Qualcomm Atheros 802.11ad multiband wireless for gaining speeds up to 4.6Gbps. The TravelMate P648 is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor having various options and has Nvidia GeForce 940M graphics. It also comes with Fingerprint reader for added protection and has Thunderbolt 3 along with security software and hardware, it has spill-resistant keyboard as well. The TravelMate P648 will be available from April 2016 and the pricing starts from $799.99.
The final set of gadgets unveiled by Acer are the World’s first monitors to come with USB-C connection called the H7 series. the USB-C connectors allow fast data transfer and charging as well. The displays are available in two sizes of 25-inch and 27-inch with resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. the display’s I felt were priced a bit on the costlier side at $499.99 and will be available in February.
