The phone comes with the pre-installed apps including MyJio, JioMusic, JioTV, JioCinema, JioXpressNews, Voice Assistant, JioVideoCall, JioGames etc. You can still install extra apps if you want but that would be through the JioStore app.
How to make voice and video calls on the JioPhone 2?
For making voice calls, it is the regular Phone app that is given in the device, which will be useful. But, if you want to do a video call, JioVideoCall is the pre-installed app that you will have to use. Users can do a video call i.e JioVideoCall to JioVideoCall (this means video calling is from JioPhone user to JioPhone user).
If I am doing a video call from my JioPhone 2 to any other smartphone user, will the call be made?
Yes, only if the receiver has the JioChat app installed on their smartphone.
Can the JioPhone 2 be connected to Wi-Fi?
Yes, the phone can be connected to a Wi-Fi network and thus, you can not just use it for the data but also can use the Voice-over-WiFi service, i.e. VoWiFi, alongside the VoLTE that is already the network based on Jio runs.
How different is this one from the JioPhone?
The phone is not really different with the functionality of the OS because it comes with the same Kai OS and there is no difference there, but the Jio Phone 2 has the QWERTY physical keypad that is rare to see these days because of the full screen Android phones, and those who miss the Blackberry phones for typing messages quickly, this should do the job for you.
Check the JioPhone vs JioPhone 2 comparison.
Can I use any other Jio SIM on the phone?
Yes, you can use any other Jio SIM once you buy the JioPhone 2, though how it was with the JioPhone first time was that you have to compulsorily get a Jio SIM along with the phone with a monthly plan in it. Later, we had used another Jio SIM to try it out and it worked well without any problems.
Can I use any other network SIM on the JioPhone 2?
Because the phone supports some 2G bands as well, it should be supporting the networks like Airtel, Idea, Tata Docomo, and others, but we cannot confirm that for now. Once we get to use it, we can confirm if other network SIM cards can be used on the JioPhone 2.
Can I use WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter on JioPhone 2?
The Kai OS was getting an update with the inclusion of these apps but initially, the new Jio Phone is not coming with those applications and it is just the Jio apps that you will see on the device. Sooner or later, we will see those apps being made available for the users, though with the limited functionality.
If you have any other questions or doubts, or even issues with JioPhone 2 while calling or browsing, let us know in the comments.
Great upgrade with a lot of additional features and a QWERTY keypad but the 3K price tag is more than what we expected, hope this phone worth it!!
