Xiaomi will soon launch the Mi Box 4K set-top box and it announced that the company is working closely with Google to bring the Mi Box to the U.S. market. This is a new 4K box powered by Android TV.
The Mi Box comes with a squarish design that has got it a couple of well-known awards, including the Red Dot design award. Running Android TV 6.0 platform, the Mi Box will play content in 4K resolution at 60 fps. The Bluetooth voice remote that ships along with the Mi Box helps search Google Play’s content library.
The Xiaomi 4K Mi Box is powered by a Quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU and 2GB DDR3 RAM along with 8GB eMMC storage. For an external storage, the Mi Box has a USB port. There is support for HDR10 and HDMI 2.0a, and the sound output is a combination of Dolby Digital Plus + DTS surround sound.
As for the connectivity, there is 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and the Mi Box is Google Cast ready for both, Android and iOS devices. If someone has to do a lot more that includes gaming as well, the optional accessory, i.e. Mi Game Controller will be made available as well.

While there is no pricing and availability details announced for the Mi Box, it will first enter the U.S. market and then get into the other markets.
At the Google I/O 2016 keynote, Google VP Clay Bavor announced that Xiaomi will be one of the early partners to commit in making Daydream-ready devices in collaboration with Google. Build on Android N, Daydream is the platform from Google for high-performance mobile VR.
