Phillips has just announced the arrival of Brilliance 492P8 Curved 49-inch monitor to United States that is scheduled for Q4 2018. These come with an upgraded QHD display and offer brilliant display quality. This is expected to compete with the Samsung CHG90 curved monitor which also measures 49-inches. The resolution on the monitor is 5120 x 1440 making it the highest resolution with a 32:9 aspect ratio that we have come across.
The Phillips Brilliance 492P8 was first announced last summer at IFA with a more moderate 3840 x 1080 resolution display which is similar to the Samsung CHG90, however, the manufacturer has chosen to improve the specs and upgrade it for the US debut. The Phillips Brilliance 492P8 is a perfect monitor for productivity over gaming as there was no mention of either AMD’s FreeSync nor Nvidia’s G-Sync nor was there any talks about the response times or refresh rates.
The curvature of the monitor is 1800R and the display goes all the way to 600nits of brightness while still maintaining 5000:1 contrast ratio. The port selection on the Monitor has done good and contains a DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C, VGA, USB 3.0 and event Ethernet.
There are no details on the pricing or the release date for now, but considering the specifications, the price is expected to be very steep for the huge display. We expect the Monitor to launch in the US by the end of this year.
