Every focus was on the iPhones for today’s Apple event, but Apple surprised us with a new Apple Watch! This, indeed, was a surprise because there were rarely any leaks or rumors around a new smartwatch from Apple. But finally, we’re looking at the Apple Watch Series 2, the successor to the first gen. Apple Watch.
It is a swim-proof smartwatch and water resistant for 50 meters, withstanding the water pressure equivalent of 50m. The speaker in the Apple Watch Series 2 has a mechanism to push out any water that enters it during swimming.
The Apple Watch Series 2 has the S2 chip, which is said to be a dual-core processor that will be 50% faster, and a new GPU will offer two times the graphic performance. Apps can work at 60 frames per second.
The display on the new Apple Watch is a second-gen display having 2X brightness than earlier, and having a 1000 nits brightness, this is the brightest display that Apple has shipped on any of its products. The watch also has built-in GPS, which connects to satellites instantly and it will help in workout tracking.
The Watch Series 2 will have aluminum, stainless steel, and ceramic (which is four times harder than stainless steel and is white in color). The watch will run on WatchOS 3.
Alongside this, there is a Apple Watch Nike+ also announced in partnership with Nike. It is said to be a perfect running partner, and even asking Siri to start tracking is enough to start the run and its tracking.
The price for the Apple Watch Series 2 is starting from $369. What about the first gen. Apple Watch? that is getting renamed to Apple Watch Series 1, with the change of processor as the dual-core processor powering it now, and the price of the Series 1 is $269.
Both the watches will be available on pre-order from September 9th, and the availability is from September 13th.
