Alongside the Xiaomi Mi 4c smartphone that got launched in China, the company also just unveiled a sleek looking colorful speaker, the Mi Bluetooth Speakers for the price of RMB 199 (about $30, or Rs. 2000).
These speakers made of Aluminum body are compact in size, and come in different colors. Not very much different in looks from the “Square” mini rectangular speakers that were already in the market, these Mi Bluetooth Speakers are quite a lot more in functionality.
Internally, these speakers come packed with a passive bass radiator made with double color injection moulding, and there are two 36mm neodymium drivers with black anodized aluminum diaphragm. It is the Avnera AV3102 SoC chipset powering the Bluetooth speakers, and according to Xiaomi, the adjustments are made to maintain tonal balance and to have least distortion on maximum volume levels.
The speakers are said to be coming with 90dB (A) @0.5m sound output, and under tested conditions of 65dB/1m, the 1500 mAh battery of the speaker was able to give about 8 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge.
Interestingly, Xioami has also included a hands-free Mic into the speaker, so as to make calls without having to use the phone when connected. While Bluetooth is the main feature, these speakers come with a MicroSD card slot for direct music playback using the card’s local storage.
For the full aluminum body and the features, pricing of RMB 199 seems quite aggressive, but there is no information about its availability outside the home market, i.e. China.
