One of the most interesting Home Appliance at the CES 2016 is this Family Hub Refrigerator by Samsung or the Super Fridge which I would like to call it, comes with a list of amazing additions making it an intelligent fridge would be the right way to put it. One thing which gives you an idea why I am so excited is, the company has managed to put in a massive 21.5-inch touchscreen display on to the door of this fridge.
The touchscreen can also act as your own TV as it is capable of mirroring the video feed from your Samsung smart TV to the display. Users can also access apps, play music streaming service Pandora, syncing your schedule to family calendar using the Sticki app. You can even use Amazon’s Alexa Digital voice assistant to set a kitchen timer. It is a four door refrigerator segregated for storing different stuff in each door.
The features do not end there, there is a Groceries by MasterCard app which lets you order goods from FreshDirect and ShopRite. So visiting your fridge will not just be about looking for what to eat but to order groceries as well. The Refrigerator will also inform you of any expiring products inside, along with any food stuff which is going stale. You can enter the expiry date of any food item being placed inside and get alerts if it is nearing expiry.
There are three cameras inside the fridge as well which will take photos of all the foodstuffs on its shelves. With the Software open for developers to develop more apps for the Refrigerator we can expect a lot more interaction with the display useful for ladies who spend more time in kitchen. Samsung has also mentioned that in future they are planning to mirror your smartphones and tablets onto the fridge display which is restricted to TV for now.
The Family Hub Refrigerator by Samsung is priced at $5,000 which seems to be worthy, I always felt that all the earlier smart Refrigerators in the market were just overly priced. There is no update about the availability of the Refrigerator yet.
