With the increase in Robotic Vacuum cleaners all the while becoming smarter and completely automatic using Wi-Fi. Taking advantage of the connectivity Neato is adding a new feature which allows users to monitor and control the device using your Android Wear powered Smart watch or Apple watch. The feature will be added to its Botvac Connected vacuum via an automatic update which was launched last year.
With other robotic vacuums having apps restricted to connectivity using apps and smartphones, Neato is one of the first to give the functionality to smart watch. Nancy Nunziati, Neato’s, marketing chief, said, “Smartwatches are letting people do many things right from their wrist–like check in for a flight, get directions, answer the phone, play music, Why not cleaning? We’re happy to be the first to add this new task to the list.”
The feature can be accessed when connected to WiFi network, the functions which are available through your smartwatch are starting and stopping cleaning program, you can receive status notifications like “I’m finished cleaning” directly on your smartwatch. The Neato Botvat Connected is priced at $699 which is not at all cheap and comes in the higher end segment of vacuum cleaners. Coming to the battery life, the vacuum cleaner can clean a 4500- to 5000-square foot home in three circuits, automatically returning to its base twice to recharge its battery.
Object recognition is made possible with the presence of Laser on top of the device which builds a map of the room by spinning five times a second performing real-time recognition. iRobot’s Roomba is one another vacuum cleaner which has got smartphone connectivity using an app but it does not have smart watch connectivity.
