The Vivo V9 was launched with that beautiful glossy back and a very comfortable design for the price of Rs. 22999 and for that, there is quite a lot offered. Since we have a lot to talk about the phone, let’s dig deep into what is the best in the Vivo V9. To give a quick round of specs, the phone comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display on the front, Snapdragon 626 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, dual-lens camera setup on the back, and a 24MP camera for selfies.
The Best Features of Vivo V9
Design and Display
The modern tall 19:9 aspect ratio with those slim bezels and curved edges makes it easy to use despite the phone having a 6.3-inch screen. The FHD+ 1080x2280p IPS LCD display looks really good and has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to endure accidental drops, and that new aspect ratio means there’s only a small notch on the top that accommodates the camera on the front and the sensors alongside it. That display is one of the reasons why the Vivo V9 looks so good.
The glossy curved back, although can take fingerprints and smudges at times, it still is a premium looking design and the phone is easily comfortable to hold.
Great Performance
The phone doesn’t come with any compromises to the power that it gets, as there is the Octa-core 626 chipset from Snapdragon handling the day to day tasks with ease. Along with that, the phone is given a power by 4GB of RAM and that is good enough for multitasking and having multiple apps running in the background without any hiccups.
We’ve been using for quite some time and the Snapdragon 626 has been performing quite well, not just while the regular usage but also while intensive tasks like games are in the question.
AI features for a better experience
With Artificial Intelligence being one of the main focuses of the Vivo V9, it comes with AI smart engine that is said to boost the phone’s performance in day-to-day tasks. How it does it is by observing user’s phone usage patterns and optimizing the performance by handling storage management and app launching functions.
Not just the performance engine, the AI also is also advantageous in a few other areas including the Face unlock feature that would also improve over time using the “AI Face Access” engine.
The phone is smart enough to know whether the user is looking at the screen or not, using the “AI Attention Sensing” feature. With the help of it, the Vivo V9 will determine whether to keep the screen of the phone active or turn it off.
The battery life of the V9 is good for a regular user but thanks to the AI technology, there is a certain level of extra optimization done even here by it to make the performance of the battery better.
Cameras – Both of them, good at it
The Vivo V9 is given with a dual-lens camera combination that comprises of a 16 MP F/2.0 camera and 5 MP F/2.4 camera on the rear. This is a big improvement from what was given last year, but it isn’t only the hardware where the phone excels, as we see several modes being made available, including the ones like Time Lapse, Pro Mode, Bokeh Mode, Slow-motion video mode, Portrait Mode, HDR, etc.
To the front, the notch houses a 24 MP selfie camera with the F/2.0 aperture, and the AI Face Beauty uses machine learning to identify user’s age, gender, and skin-tone and adjust the settings accordingly. The 24 MP camera being the main part of the device, it has with India specific features like face beauty video call, camera filters, AR stickers, portrait lighting effect that are limited to only this device.
Interestingly enough, there is a 4K video recording possible with both, the rear and the front cameras.
Software, UI
The Vivo V9 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, which is technically the latest OS available for Android phones right now, and there is that custom interface, i.e. the Funtouch OS 4.0 UI on top that comes with several gesture features, functions, and a UI that is completely easy to navigate and use.
Some of the notable features of the Vivo V9’s interface include the theme manager, smart motion features like smart wake, air operation, smart turn/off the screen, smart call, and a few others. There is also the smart split functionality, one-handed, gesture screenshot, App clone, smart click, and this all adds to a better user experience.
The goodness of the phone is not limited to only these things, as there is a lot more to be talked about it, but we have made this list only to tell you what makes the phone stand out in the crowd.
Will wait for more user reviews, thanks
