Xiaomi has had the Redmi series as a mid-range one all the while, but finally, we see a flagship in this series that comes with specifications that the phone can boast against the actual flagships from the other companies. The Xiaomi Redmi Pro is official and we’re sure you would have a lot of questions to ask about it.
Following is a FAQ series done by us with some of the basic but important questions answered about the Redmi Pro from Xiaomi.
What’s the display that is given on the Redmi Pro?
It is a 5.5-inch OLED display that Xiaomi has included in the Redmi Pro. The phone’s display has 400nit brightness at max, and there is 100% NTSC color gamut. This is a Full HD display, and the pixel density is kept at 342 PPI.
Are there any variants of the Redmi Pro, and if yes, how do they differ from each other?
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro is available in three different variants:
1. With Helio X20, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage
2. With Helio X20, 3GB RAM, 64GB storage
3. With Helio X25, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage
Can I use a MicroSD card for storage expansion on the device?
Yes, you can use one but if you do that, you will be restricted to using one SIM card because the MicroSD card slot is a hybrid slot, allowing either a SIM or a MicroSD card.
Is it a Dual SIM phone, and if yes, what are the SIM card sizes that can be used?
Yes, the Redmi Pro supports Dual SIM and while the first SIM slot supports a Micro SIM card, the second slot supports a Nano SIM. The second slot is a hybrid slot.
What’s so good about the Dual-lens camera setup on the phone?
The rear camera setup, i.e. the combination of 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel rear cameras is given for a bokeh effect on the pictures. The role of the 13-megapixel Sony camera is to take the actual picture, and the additional 5-megapixel Samsung camera determines the depth of field so that the background objects can be blurred without any efforts from the user in editing the pic.
Also, you don’t need to wait for the image to be processed because it is a real-time bokeh that is done at a hardware level.
If you wished to have a different object into the picture to be focused and the one that was done automatically is wrong, you always have the option to choose where to focus, even after the picture is saved. Bokeh videos are possible too if we are to believe Xiaomi.
What are the other features of the back camera setup of the phone?
While the bokeh effect is the major one, the other inclusions in the camera are Phase detection autofocus, color temperature flash with two LED flashlights, HDR, Panorama, Burst Mode, and a 1080p video recording at 30 fps.
What are the sensors included?
The Xiaomi Redmi Pro has Gyro sensor, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Hall sensor, and the Infrared sensor.
What’s the battery capacity in the Redmi Pro and does it support fast charging?
The battery capacity of the phone is 4050 mAh, which is quite a good one. It is a built-in battery and you cannot remove it out. There is support for fast charging and one can charge it with the 5V / 2A standard for fast charging the phone.
What’s the processor that powers the Xiaomi Redmi Pro?
The phone comes in variants and while the top end one has the MediaTek Helio X25 deca-core processor powering it, the other variants come powered with MediaTek Helio X20 one.
What is the release date for Redmi Note Pro is India?
As of now, there is no expected date and time for the Redmi Note Pro in India. The phone is expected to come to India in a couple of months from now, but there is no official information from the company about the same and we’re waiting for an answer.
If released in India, will the phone be powered by the same processor?
No, just like was the case with other phones from Xiaomi, any phone that is entering the Indian market won’t have the MediaTek processors and it would probably be the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, though not the mid-range series, because the Helio X25 is a top end one.
What about the build quality of the phone?
The phone has a metal build quality and it is a brushed metal that is not just good with the quality but also with the looks. There is a 2.5D glass on the screen and the metal on the side is chamfered on the front and back.
What OS does the Redmi Pro run and will it get the Android Nougat update?
The phone runs Android Marshmallow based MIUI 8, which is the latest version from the company and it is based on the currently available latest version of Android, and we do expect to see the Android Nougat update soon after the release of the new OS update from Google.
With the launch of this phone, does it mean that we won’t be seeing the Redmi Note 4 anytime soon?
If we consider different markets together, the Redmi Note 3 came to India not long ago, so it won’t make sense to see its successor so soon. But in China, we expect to see the Redmi Note 4 to soon be launched in China, because the Redmi Pro is not the successor but is a different and powerful phone altogether.
