Xiaomi has started sending out invites for its Event being held on October 19th, the invite which has been seen in Weibo where the Chinese company has announced the event by sharing an Image with the launch date. The teaser image read “The next generation of new conference” which is in Chinese. There is no mention of what the event in scheduled for, so all we can guess is the event being held for their latest Flagship the Mi 5.
The launch of the Xiaomi Mi 5 is long due as the Mi 4 was launched in July last year and it was launched along with the Mi Band, so we can expect that the second version of the Mi Band will also be unveiled. Earlier there was news that Mi5 will be available from November and with this latest invite this seems to be true. But with the November launch the latest Flagship by Xiaomi will not be coming with the Snapdragon 820 processor as Qualcomm announced that the Snapdragon 820 will be available from December.
According to the leaks, the Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with a 5.3-inch QHD display with 1440×2560 pixels resolution having pixel density of 554ppi. With the option of a Snapdragon 820 processor out of question we are expecting the Xiaomi Mi 5 to come with the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 which is more likely as Qualcomm is an investor in the company, some sources say it has switched it with MediaTek’s Helio X20 SoC, which is a contender of the Snapdragon 820. The same processor is being used in the Nexus 6P which was recently announced. It comes with 4GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU. It will be available in two variants of 16GB and 64GB inbuilt storage options with no option for expansion.
It is said to come with a 16MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 8MP front facing camera and powered by 3030mAh battery. With all this said, Xiaomi which is into everything these days like TVs, fitness trackers, blood pressure monitors, air purifiers, smart light bulbs, webcams and action cameras we cannot exactly say what exactly the company will be announcing as the “next generation” which can be anything of the above. Expecting that the Xiaomi Mi5 will be coming with a Snapdragon 820 (which is two months away from release) we can say that the event might be for launching some other product or If it is for the Mi5 then we will have to see if Xiaomi uses MediaTek’s Helio X20 SoC or the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC.
