It seems like Microsoft does not consider piracy as a threat anymore. As Microsoft today has officially announced Windows 10 will be a free update even for users using pirated Windows versions on supported hardware.
This is according to a report from Reuters, which claims that Terry Myerson, who is the Microsoft’s operating systems unit chief said during the WinHEC technology conference held in Shenzhen, China that Microsoft will be providing a free update to Windows 10, even for users having pirated copies of Windows 7 or above running in their PC’s.
This move is considered quite important to get back the trade, especially in countries like China.
Even though Microsoft’s Windows operating system is the most used computer operating system in the World, a recent report suggests that about three quarters of Windows powered computers in China has a pirated copy installed in it. And by this move, Microsoft will be able to give access to paid Windows solutions such as Microsoft Office even to the users with pirated copies installed.
According to Microsoft, the Windows 10 software update is going to roll out in the summer of 2015 with an expected roll out to over 190 countries with official support for over 111 languages.
Windows 10 is the most feature packed and the most advanced version of the Microsoft’s Windows operating system till date.
