Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note Prime variant in India recently and it comes in a price range having lot of competitors, one of which is the Lenovo K3 Note which sports a similar size 5.5-inch display along with similar camera set up. Other competitors to the device are CoolPad Note 3 and its predecessor the Redmi Note 4G which we have covered in separate posts. Let us have a look at the differences between the two devices in this detailed comparison post.
Display:
Both the devices come with a 5.5-inch Display, the Lenovo K3 Note has the upper hand in this aspect with a full HD resolution display in comparison to the HD display in the Redmi Note Prime. Both the devices have capacitive buttons below the display in the body below the display making the devices even bigger. The Redmi Note Prime display although being only HD is decent enough for regular usage, but we can see the difference between the two displays while watching Videos or playing high resolution games.

Processor, RAM and Storage:
The Redmi Note Prime sports a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocking at 1.2 GHz in comparison to the 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor in the Lenovo K3 Note. The Snapdragon 410 is a trusted and reliable SoC which has been used in many budget smart phones along with mid rangers, but with higher clocking speeds and being octa-core the Lenovo K3 Note beats the Redmi Note Prime in terms of performance.
Both these devices have similar 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB internal storage which is expandable using microSD card.
Camera:
Both the Lenovo K3 Note and the Redmi Note Prime come with 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing camera set up. The K3 Note has dual-tone LED flash in comparison to the normal LED flash in Note Prime. Both the cameras were decent enough producing good colors and also fast capturing images and processing them without much lag between taking continuous photos. There is not much of a difference between the two devices in the camera aspect. The interface is quite different between the two with the Note Prime still stuck in Kitkat 4.4 OS, the Ke Note camera UI seemed much better.
OS:
The Redmi Note Prime is stuck in medieval times with the device running on Android Kitkat 4.4 based MIUI 7, although the MIUI impresses there is a lack some much needed features. The Lenovo K3 Note runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Vibe UI over it and has the typical interface of all Lenovo phones like Lenovo A6000 and A7000 devices. With upgrades promised for both devices it all depends on the taste of the user to select between the two devices in the OS aspect.
Battery:
The Redmi Note Prime wins in this aspect with a 3100mAh battery compared to the 3000mAh battery in the K3 Note, not because of the higher capacity but because it carries a lower resolution display. The battery life of the K3 Note is lesser in comparison to the Redmi Note Prime.
Conclusion:
There is a price difference of approximately Rs. 1,500 between the two devices which is evident in the specs of both the devices. With the overall comparison the Lenovo K3 Note beats the Redmi Note Prime in almost all segments except camera where both are similar and the Battery life is better in the Note Prime. Both the devices support 4G LTE, the Snapdragon 410 SoC performs equally good as the MediaTek MT6752 but in cases of multi tasking we can see a slight bit of lag in the device. If you are looking for purchasing between these two devices, in case money is the criteria go for the Redmi Note Prime but if you can spare some more the K3 Note is a better choice between the two.
