Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi 4 in China, and it comes as a successor to the Redmi 3s, which has been there in the market for months with decent specifications and a good performance for the price it is being offered. On the other side, Meizu also recently launched a budget smartphone, the Meizu M3s into the market.
Now that all the three phones, the Redmi 4, Redmi 4 Prime, and the Meizu M3s are coming with the same screen size and quite a lot of competing specs, let’s see how they compare against each other when it comes to the specifications.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 vs. Redmi 4 Prime vs. Meizu M3s – Similarities
- The same screen size – All the three phones have a 5-inch display on the front.
- The three phones have a 13-megapixel rear camera with the F/2.2 aperture and phase detection autofocus support.
- There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera provided on all the three devices.
A fingerprint scanner is given on all the three devices. While it is on the front on the Meizu M3s, the two Redmi phones have the sensor located on the back just below the camera. - A MicroSD card support is offered on the phones, with the support of up to 256GB MicroSD card for the storage expansion.
- The SIM slot is hybrid in all the three phones, where the second slot can either have a Nano SIM or a MicroSD card.
- The devices support 4G LTE connectivity and have VoLTE feature as well for HD calls and video calls over data.
Xiaomi Redmi 4 vs. Redmi 4 Prime vs. Meizu M3s – Differences
- Display resolution: While the Redmi 4 and the Meizu M3s have a 720p resolution display, the Redmi 4 Prime offers a better resolution, i.e. a Full HD display on the front.
- The OS version: Although the phones run a custom UI, the Android version they are based on is different. The Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime have the MIUI 8 that is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS while the Meizu M3s still runs the older version of Android, i.e. Android 5.1 Lollipop with the Flyme 5.1 OS.
- Processor: The Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, its Prime variant comes powered with the Snapdragon 625 chipset while the Meizu M3s is powered by the Mediatek MT6750 octa-core processor.
- RAM and storage: The Xiaomi Redmi 4 has 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage, the Redmi 4 Prime comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, while the Meizu M3s has two variants, one with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and other with 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage.
- Battery capacity: Both the Redmi phones have a 4100 mAh battery packed in, while the Meizu M3s comes with a 3020 mAh battery.
- Fast charging: The Meizu M3s doesn’t have a fast charging support while the Xiaomi’s phones are coming with the support for fast charging, which is much needed for a battery of that capacity.
The Meizu M3s is available in the Indian market, and while writing the comparison, the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime are available only in China while in India, the previous device, i.e. the Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime are currently available.
