Xiaomi has never had a serious competitor for its Redmi Note series in the recent times. Now, that’s entirely changed with the launch of powerful devices from brands like Asus and the newly announced Realme. Let’s have a quick spec comparison between the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Realme 1 to see how they compete with each other.
Display and Design
In terms of design, the two phones are poles apart. The Xiaomi uses a metal backplate with plastic on top and bottom for the better signal reception. The Realme 1, on the other hand, has a fiberglass back with a plastic side for signal reception. The Redmi Note 5 Pro has a curved back while the Real me has flat-back.
The Realme 1 doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner and only has a single microphone, whereas the Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner and dual microphones.
Realme 1 has a 6.0 inch IPS LCD FullHD+ screen, whereas the Redmi Note 5 Pro has a slightly smaller 5.99 inch IPS LCD screen with a similar resolution. The Realme 1 clearly has an edge over Note 5 Pro when it comes to screen-to-body ratio with a 84.75 % vs the 77.4% on the Note 5 Pro.
Processor RAM and Storage
The Realme 1 is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro has Snapdragon 636 chipset. Realme 1 comes in either 3 GB RAM, 4 GB RAM or 6 GB RAM variants, with 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB of internal storage respectively.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro, on the other hand, comes only in a 64 GB storage variant, but the RAM can be configured either in 4 GB or 6 GB.
Cameras
The Realme 1 has a single 13 MP rear camera that is capable of shooting videos at 1080p. The Note 5 Pro has dual 12 MP + 5 MP cameras on the back, which shoots videos at 1080p, as well.
To the front, the Realme 1 has an 8 MP selfie camera with AI beauty, whereas the Redmi Note 5 Pro has a massive 20 MP selfie shooter, with AI.
OS and Interface
Both the phones have a custom UI on top of Android. The Realme 1 runs on Color OS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, whereas the Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top. Color OS and MIUI are heavily skinned UIs that although have many features and gestures, are nowhere close to stock Android.
Battery
The Realme 1 comes with a decent 3410 mAh battery whereas the Redmi Note 5 Pro has a massive 4000 mAh.
Price
The Realme 1 is priced between 10-15k while the Redmi Note 5 Pro is priced at Rs 14,999 for the 4 GB variant and the Rs. 16,999 for the 6 GB variant.
I love the real me 1 but they should have given a good build to the device.
