OPPO and Vivo are clearly in the top charts, thanks to the marketing and the not-so-bad phones that they have in the portfolio. The companies don’t launch as many phones as the other brands do, but whatever is offered have some features that users like, for example, the selfie cameras.
The latest phones from the two brands are the OPPO F5 and Vivo V7. As the two come in a price range that is almost similar, it creates a confusion in the user’s mind on what is a better choice in the end. To be fair, it is hard to say one is much better than the other, so we have a comparison done to let you know which is a leader in every aspect that is important to the user.
With regards to the design, the two phones look quite similar, though the OPPO F5 is a little bigger in size. A few millimeters taller and wider, the F5 is slimmer than the V7, with a thickness of 7.5mm compared to the 7.9mm on the V7. But the size has to be different because the OPPO F5 has a larger screen as well, with a better resolution as well. There’s a 6-inch FHD+ display with the 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution when compared to the 5.7-inch HD+ display having a 1440 x 720 pixels resolution.
When it comes to the processor, the OPPO F5 comes powered with the MediaTek MT6763T Helio P23 chipset when compared to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor that powers the Vivo V7. There are two variants offered for the OPPO device, one with 6GB RAM and other with 4GB RAM, while the Vivo V7 comes only in a single variant having 4GB of RAM. The storage is 32GB for both the devices having 4GB of RAM while the 6GB variant of F5 has 64GB storage.
Now, the cameras. That’s where some important differences can be seen between the two phones. The OPPO F5 has a 16-megapixel rear camera with the F/1.8 aperture and phase detection autofocus and while the Vivo V7 as well comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera, it has F/2.0 aperture and thus the low light performance is not as good as the one on OPPO F5.
It is the front camera where the Vivo counterpart looks better with a 24-megapixel camera offering F/2.0 aperture and the same aperture size is present even on the OPPO F5, though the camera has a 20-megapixel lens there. Both the phones offer a lot when it comes to the front camera effects and modes.
The interface is not so similar, though it looks nowhere close to the stock Android on either of the devices, as the OPPO F5 runs ColorOS based on Android Nougat OS, while the Vivo V7 has Funtouch OS based on Android Nougat OS. Both the devices have a similar battery life, with the Vivo device though having a little lesser battery capacity is capable of giving over four hours of screen-on time with its 3000 mAh battery when compared to the 3200 mAh battery on the OPPO F5 that is capable of giving a similar battery life.
Now, what makes the two phones very different?
The pricing, to begin with, is not very different for the 4GB RAM variant, as the Vivo V7 is Rs. 1000 lesser, but the major differences are with the camera performance, the display quality, and with the size of the phones.
The display quality is easily better on the OPPO F5, and the cameras are quite similar when we talk about the front facing camera performance but the OPPO device again is a little better with the rear camera performance. But in the end, for that size, even though it has a bezel-less display, the OPPO F5 is larger and not easy to use with one hand and that’s where the Vivo V7 is a better device in the hand.
