The latest Flagship smartphones by Microsoft, the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL were officially announced today in the official event in New York. You can check the devices on Microsoft’s official online store. Microsoft which usually launches two devices together a flagship device and a bigger variant naming it as XL. There is usually not much difference between both the devices apart from the display size and processor which is carried on in the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL as well.
Let us look at a detailed comparison between both the devices by Microsoft and what the differences are between the two, which might help some of you choose between the both.
Display:
This is the important difference, with the Lumia 950 sporting a 5.2 inches AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and 564ppi pixel density and the bigger version, the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL sporting a 5.7 inches AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution and 518ppi pixel density. The display size is one of the major factors in deciding which device you are comfortable with. The Lumia 950 comes with an impressive 564ppi spread on the 5.2-inch display and the 5.7-inch display having 518ppi pixel density.

Processor:
This is another area where the difference can be seen, the Lumia 950 Is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 processor and the Lumia 950 XL comes with a Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 processor giving it an edge over its smaller sibling. But the clocking speed of the Lumia 950 is 1.8GHz compared to the Lumia 950 XL having clocking speeds of 1.5GHz.
Battery:
The Microsoft Lumia 950 runs on a 3000mAh battery and the Lumia 950 XL runs on a 3340mAh battery which with the size of the display should give equal battery life and not see much of a difference between the two.
Apart from these differences both the devices come with the same camera set up of a 20 MP Rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics,1/2.4 inch sensor size and 1.12 µm pixel size, OIS and triple-LED RGB flash. The front camera is a 5MP shooter. The RAM and storage space are also similar with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage expandable up to 200GB with microSD card. Both the devices have a unique feature of Liquid Colling system which was seen in tablets.
Conclusion:
Both the devices are almost equally placed, the major difference and choosing factor being the display size with the Lumia 950 having a compact 5.2-inch display and the Lumia 950 XL having a size of 5.7-inch for the bigger display lovers. The difference in the processors is not much as the clocking speeds are adjusted with the Lumia 950 having Snapdragon 808 with 1.82 GHz clocking speeds and the Lumia 950 XL having Snapdragon 810 with 1.5 GHz clocking speeds. Both the device will be having similar performance scores and the only factor which will be the deciding factor is the display size.
