LeEco Le 1s vs Lenovo K4 Note vs Redmi Note 3 Comparison

LeEco which was formerly known as Letv has launched their latest smartphone, the Le 1s which is a great device launched in a very competitive segment of smartphones. It will be going up against the likes of Lenovo K4 Note and Redmi Note 3, the other devices like the Motorola Moto G 3rd gen is another device which comes in the same segment but priced slightly higher.

Let us see how the device fares against Lenovo K4 Note and Redmi Note 3 which are the devices which are exactly in the segment where the Le 1s has been launched.

Design and Display:

All three devices come with decent design boasting of metal in the body design. The LeEco Le 1s is said to be made of premium full-metal sealed unibody which is aircraft-grade aluminum having beautiful rounded edges giving it a premium look, the fingerprint sensor is placed on the back of the device below the camera. The Lenovo K4 Note comes with a metal frame and the back cover is made of polycarbonate which is removable, something the other two do not have. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 comes with full metal unibody, the borders are rounded and curved edges give this device a decent look.

The location of speakers was the best in the K4 Note which are on the front giving direct sound, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has speakers on the back and this makes the sound output a bit lower than the others, the Le 1s has the speakers on the lower border along with the USB Type-C port.

Display of all three smartphones is similar with 5.5-inch Full HD resolution and we came to the conclusion that the displays on all three were equally good, the viewing angles on the K4 Note were slightly better but that does not give it an edge. The colors and the visibility under direct sunlight was also good in all three devices. The Redmi Note has a sunlight/night display mode along with a reading mode. So Display is  not a factor which will affect the comparison.

Processor, RAM and Storage:

The Le 1s and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 come with the same processor, a 2.2GHz 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 SoC with the Le 1s coming with a 3GB RAM variant and the Redmi Note 3 comes in 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM variants. The Lenovo K4 Note is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor with Mali T720 GPU and coupled with 3GB of DDR3 RAM. Redmi Note 3 in India has been launched running the Snapdragon 650 SoC with 2GB and 3GB RAM variants.

All three devices performance wise are almost similar with the Redmi Note 3 and the Le 1s having same processor and the K4 Note MediaTek SoC gives similar performance as the other two. We were not able to get our hands on the Redmi Note 3 to test it out fully and initial experience was up to the mark to the other two. The LeEco 1s comes with 32GB fixed storage, the K4 Note has 16GB inbuilt memory, expandable up to 128GB using microSD card. The Redmi Note 3 comes in two variants of 16GB and 32GB which are not expandable. If you love to have more space then the K4 Note is the one, as it can be expanded up to 128GB.

Camera:

In terms on specifications on paper all three devices are equally placed in the camera segment as well with all three sporting 13MP rear cameras and 5MP front facing cameras. The changes can be seen to be software and feature related with the K4 Note coming with PDAF and dual-color LED flash. The Redmi Note 3 comes with PDAF as well along with HDR and dual tone LED flash. The Le 1s has an ISOCELL 5P lens camera with Blue Glass IR filter, PDAF and 0.09-second ultra-focus speed.

While using the Le 1s the low light photos were coming out better than the K4 Note samples along with the faster focus which seemed to work in real life situations as well. The front cameras of the three is a 5MP shooter with Le 1s giving wide angle lens and the Redmi Note 3 coming with 36 smart beauty profiles to give that variation in taking selfies. a comprehensive camera test will give us a winner, we will be doing the camera comparison between the three once we get our hands on a Redmi Note 3.

Battery:

In this segment the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the winner with the biggest battery of the three, a 4000mAh battery surely gives it more of an advantage over the 3300mAh battery in the Lenovo K4 Note and a 3000mAh battery in the LeEco Le 1s. The LeEco 1s although having the smallest battery capacity has some tricks up its sleeve with Fast Charging technology which is absent in the other two, it is said to give 3.5 hours of talk time with 5 minutes of charging.

All three devices come with Fingerprint sensor located on the back below the camera, the Le 1s comes with a mirror-surface over the sensor which is said to protect it from scratches. The fingerprint sensor in all three devices are equally accurate and fast on initial use.

Conclusion:

Out of the three the Lenovo K4 Note and the Redmi Note 3 3GB variant are costlier at Rs. 11,999, with the Le 1s priced at Rs. 10,999 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is priced at Rs. 9,999 for the 2GB RAM variant. With the specifications and the better camera performance the Le 1s and Redmi Note 3 are equally good and either of the one will be a good choice.

All we can say now is that if you are looking for a smartphone in this price range consider these three devices with the Le 1s standing out on paper but as it is a new company we cannot confirm about the post purchase service by LeEco as of now and will be updating it later on, but we have had some good response from Xiaomi and Lenovo Service centers. All in all it depends on the user as all three of the devices are equally placed in terms of display, performance, camera the Lenovo K4 Note is a bit costlier than the rest.
