ASUS has cemented its presence in the Indian market with the launch of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and the ZenFone 5z. These two smartphones offer great performance for the price that they are offered at. The company has today announced the ASUS ZenFone Lite L1, which aims at the entry-level smartphone market, which usually dominated by players like Xiaomi who offers their Redmi 6A, in that price segment. So, does the ZenFone Lite L1 pack enough to compel you to change your mind from the Redmi 6A? What similarities or dissimilarities do the two phones share? ASUS ZenFone Lite L1 vs Xiaomi Redmi 6A
Design & Display
Unlike other Redmi phones, which usually have a metal build, the Redmi 6A comes with a plastic curved back. The same is the case with ZenFone Lite L1, which has a plastic back, which has a matte finish. Both the phones lack a fingerprint scanner.
As for the displays, both the phones come with a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD screens which have a resolution of 1440×720 pixels. The display’s a have a 18:9 aspect ratio and do not have a notch.
Processor, RAM & Storage
As for the processor, the Redmi 6A comes with MediaTek Helio A22 SOC while the ASUS ZenFone Lite L1 comes with Snapdragon 430 SOC with Adreno 505 GPU.
The ZenFone Lite L1 comes only in a 2 GB RAM 16 GB internal storage, whereas the Redmi 6A is offered in both 2 GB RAM with 16 GB storage and 2 GB RAM with 32 GB storage variant. Both the phones offer a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Cameras
As for the cameras, the ASUS ZenFone Lite L1 comes with single 13 MP rear-facing camera which has a f/2.0 lens on top. On the front, the Lite L1 features a 5 MP selfie camera with a f/2.4 aperture lens.
The Redmi 6A, on the other hand, comes with a single 13 MP camera as well; however, the lens attached to it is slightly narrower at f/2.2. The story continues on the front too, with a 5 MP selfie camera which has a f/2.2 lens attached to it.
Battery
Both the phones sport a similar capacity 3000 mAh non-removable unit. While it is too early to comment on which device lasts longer, we do expect them to perform equally well.
OS & Interface
Although both the phones run on Android 8.1 Oreo, both the phones use different UI. The ASUS ZenFone Lite L1 comes with ASUS’s ZenUI 5.0 on top, while the Xiaomi Redmi 6A comes with MIUI 9.6 on top.
Both the UIs are nowhere close to stock android and have an iOS-esque feel. Our Redmi 6A has received the new MIUI 10 update which borrows even more tricks from Apple’s iOS to make the UI look and feel like it.
Price
The ASUS ZenFone Lite L1 is priced at INR 6,999 but can be availed at INR 5,999 during the Flipkart Festive Dhamaka Offer. The Redmi 6A, on the other hand, is available for INR 5,999 for the 2 GB RAM with 16 GB storage variant and INR 6,999 for the 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage variant.
