Let us check out how both the devices fare against each other in a batter of the specifications between Apple iPhone 6s Plus and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

Sony has launched the Z5 Premium as an additional variant to its flagship device the Xperia Z5 recently. The Premium term is used aptly as the device is set up with some amazing specifications. The Xperia Z5 Premium sports the world first 4K resolution display on a smartphone with mid blowing 806ppi which makes it the sharpest display out there in any smartphone.

Display:

The iPhone Retina display with fullHD resolution and 401ppi is not at all a match for the 4K resolution display of the Xperia Z5 Premium and 806ppi. Whether the 4K resolution can be detected by the naked eye is not exactly confirmed but on paper the Xperia Z5 premium is very sharp. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is a little bit bulkier at 6.06 x 3.00 x 0.44 inches compared to the iPhone 6s Plus which measures 6.23 x 3.07 x 0.29 inches. Xperia has maintained the OmniBalance design which comes with an aluminum frame in between glass front and rear panels.

The round shaped side power button has been replaced with an elongated power button which also acts as a fingerprint sensor. The iPhone 6s Plus has the same design as its predecessor the iPhone 6 Plus with rounded borders and curved edges along with an aluminium casing. The fingerprint sensor is present in the home button below the display. The Xperia Z5 Premium is IP65 and IP68 water resistant which is not the case in the iPhone 6s Plus.

Processor and RAM:

The Apple iPhone 6s Plus comes with a 64-bit A9 chip with M9 motion coprocessor and 2GB of RAM, in comparison to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, supported by 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage in Xperia Z5 Premium. Both the devices perform decently, but with the Xperia Z5 Premium having 4K dispaly and the Snapdragon 810 processor it is a combination which will be producing a lot heat and there are already people talking about the heating issue seen in display units at the IFA event in Berlin.

Camera and Video Recording:

The Xperia Z5 Premium wins in terms of Megapixel count as well, with Z5 premium sporting 23-megapixel rear camera having a decent ISO sensitivity count of 12800 and the company has claimed focus time of up to 0.03 seconds. The iPhone 6s Plus also has got an upgraded 12-megapixel rear camera, the iPhone camera although having restricted Megapixel count, it is the one to beat in terms of smartphone camera quality.

You can record 4K videos in both the devices which brings the storage space in question here, with the Xperia Z5 Premium coming with 32GB internal memory and also having expandable space up to 200GB with microSD card makes it the choice of device if you are going to take a lot of 4K videos. The iPhone 6s Plus comes in three variants 16GB, 64GB  and 128GB which are not expandable, if you go for the 128GB variant it is practical but in case of 16GB variant your space will be taken up with just 30 mins of 4K footage.

Battery:

In terms of battery the iPhone 6s Plus surprisingly has a lower powered battery at 1,715 mAh compared to even its predecessor iPhone 6 Plus which had a 1,800 mAh battery, what Apple was thinking is not clear, however battery efficient the new A9 processor might be while capturing 4K videos and additional 3D touch features etc there will be a lot of battery drain. On the other hand the Xperia Z5 Premium comes with a 3,430 mAh battery which Sony claims will be lasting for two days, which might not be the case with the powerful Snapdragon 810 processor and the 4K resolution display running along with the 4K video recording might just eat up the battery.

Conclusion:

There are some decent upgrades in the iPhone 6s Plus from the previous version with an improvement in the Camera, processor and inclusion of 3D touch feature along with the addition of 4K video recording maintaining the same hardware and design as the previous model. The Xperia Z5 Premium with a 4K resolution display and waterproof and dustproof design with  IP65 and IP68 rating beats the iPhone 6s Plus in all departments on paper. It depends on the choice of the user in the end, which OS would you like and be comfortable with the iOS9 or Android 5.1 Lollipop along with the design and the heating issue which has been around in the Xperia Z series from the beginning.

Stick to the iPhone 6s Plus if you have been a iPhone user but if you are comfortable with Android giving the Xperia Z5 Premium a try will be worth it with the specifications which are offer making it one of the best smartphones built till date on paper at least.
