Sony has been long due of a flagship full frame camera from a couple of years, and to come back into the competition has launched their latest flagship full frame A-mount camera, the A99 II which comes with 42.4-megapixel sensor. Sony has managed to incorporate 4D Focus technology into the camera making it the first full-frame Alpha with this tech.
Sony is promising full-time autofocus to track moving objects with the help of 79 dedicated phase detection points along with 399 focal plane phase detection points along with non moving mirror giving precise focus continuously and also capable of tracking fast moving objects.
To give it an advantage of capturing fast moving objects the camera is capable of shooting at a brisk 12 frames per second which translates to 8FPS in live view. The 79 Hybrid VCross AF points can shoot continuously at 12 fps with AF and AE tracking giving it a good edge and making it a great choice for sports and wildlife photographers to capture the right movement with missing any.
One other important feature which Sony has used in the A99 II to help in sports and Wildlife photography and videography is the inclusion of Sony’s 5 aixs image stabilization which is compatible with all A-mounts lenses giving the users many options.
This image stabilization also gives advantage in low light shooting along with countering shifting blur in close-ups and rolling blur in low light. It comes with a peak ISO of 102,400 sensitivity which makes it a great choice for low light photography as well. Sony has managed to make the A99 II more compact compared to the A99 by about 8 percent with magnesium alloy body along with a new grip. The camera is water and dust proof, it comes with a 1024×768 OLED viewfinder. The company has mentioned that the software in the Sony A99 II is revamped as well to make it easier to use.
The Sony A99 II is now capable of shooting at 4K video and it comes with Slow and Quick mode which helps in shooting videos in slo-mo and accelerated video speeds. Coming to the pricing, the A99 II is priced at $3,199 for the body and will be available from November.
