Nokia OZO the Virtual reality camera was introduced by the company targeting Film makers who are into Virtual Reality Film making back in July. The company has announced today that the Ozo will be available at a price of $60,000 and will start shipping from early 2016.
The Nokia OZO is a 360-degree camera which will record 360-degree videos with the help of eight shutter sensors and integrated eight microphones to help capture the 360-degree sound as well. It also comes with real-time VR preview, wireless operation and full 3D 360 audio and video broadcast capabilities.
Commenting on the launch, Ramzi Haidamus, president of Nokia Technologies, said, “We’re at the dawn of an exciting new medium that will transform the way people connect to stories, events, and the world around them. OZO is a powerful tool designed for the professional creators who will answer the most exciting and intriguing questions about the possibilities for virtual reality.”
The Nokia Ozo is a spherical shaped camera and is made of milled aluminum alloy which takes it weight ti 4.3kgs. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery and is available in Lava Grey color. The Ozo is capable of capturing stereoscopic 3D video through eight synchronized global shutters sensors and spatial audio through eight integrated microphones. The eight camera shutters have an aperture of f/2.4.
One unique and impressive feature which I liked about the camera is the option of viewing low resolution footage in just a few minutes, which is impossible with other VR cameras as the file sizes are huge. This allows film makers to review the work and re shoot any scenes if necessary. The video can be viewed at the same time or in real time as it is being recorded through a VR headset. In case you want to view the high resolution versions of the video you can view them on Occlusal Rift HUD on which directors can directly post it.
