Livestream, the live video streaming service has just unveiled a camera with a 4K sensor, and that isn’t just another camera that records 4K video, but do the editing while the video recording is going on.
The Movi camera from Livestream is being unveiled at CES 2016 event, and it has a 4K sensor, stereo microphones and there is a 150-degree lens made entirely with glass. On the downside, the camera control can be currently done only using an iOS app.
The preview on your phone is where you can interact with the camera, and direct it to zoom into any subject, tap on the area to cut and drag to pan across a scene, all this while the recording is happening. According to the company, the camera is capable of detecting faces and its movement, and this will be quite useful in events where a particular person has to be tracked and focused on.
Since there is an app controlling it, you can use the same app to stream the footage live, or choose to just upload it later. The camera doesn’t boast a long battery life as about an hour is what you get on a full charge, but Boost accessory from Livestream helps get more battery life and also get LTE connectivity along with Ethernet.
While it looks quite interesting as a camera that can do more than just the direct streaming of what is in the frame, the Movi camera still won’t be a killer replacement for standard 4K cameras with several controls on the body. The price is set at $399, but if you are interested and are pre-ordering the camera, the price currently would be $199 on the company’s website.
