The Hyundai Santro is finally seeing a new face for itself, with the All New Santro getting launched today in India. The new Santro comes with loads of developments and upgrades from the previous one that was one of the highest selling cars in India while it was available in the market for years. The All new Santro has better styling with a modern look, spacious and airy cabin feel, superior headroom, higher seating, practical ergonomics, and wider powertrain options.
The All new Santro comes with the 1.1 litre petrol engine and it puts out 69PS of power. The chassis features McPherson struts up front and and a couples torsion beam at the rear. The shock abosorbers are mounted in a near vertical form. There are going to be rear AC vents in the new Santro and a 135cc AC compressor is being included to keep the cabin cool.
Claiming a top speed of 150 kmph, the 1.1l engine also claims to offer a mileage of 20.3kmpl. The engine will get the option of a 5-speed MT/AMT. There will be a factory fitted CNG option too with an 8kg (~60l) cylinder capacity.
To also keep the cabin silent, there is engine noise isolation, wind noise isolation with double sealing by strip application to minimize wind noise, road noise isolation with anti pad, deadner, and carpet felt, Acoustic air duct to minimize the NVH from engine.
The new Santro is taller and wider than the previous gen. one, and this will have the AMT transmission with an in-house developed transmission system. All the models of the Santro will have a driver airbag, and the top-end model called Asta will have both Driver and passenger airbags. For now, it will be only the steel wheels offered and no alloy wheels available.
The new Santro will go on sale on October 23. Bookings open tomorrow at ₹11,000 for the first 50000 customers.
