After being launched internationally, the MINI Convertible from BMW is introduced in the Indian market, and the price set for that is ₹34.9 lakh (ex-showroom price Delhi). The small luxury car that cannot be really given a tag of a hatchback is designed brilliantly and has some good power under the hood.
The MINI convertible has a fully automatic, electrically powered soft top system along with a fully integrated rollover protection. When the open top driving is on, there is a Wind Deflector that can be locked into a position behind the front seat, so that any unwanted air turbulence is avoided. The opening or closing of the top takes just 18 seconds.
For the internals, Sport Leather Steering Wheel and Sports Seats for driver and front passenger are there for the comfort of a speedy driver and giving a feel of a little karting racer.
It is the TwinPower Turbo Technology, proprietary one for BMW, that is used in the two-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine generating a peak output of 192 hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. The speeds that the MINI Convertible can reach is 233 kmph at max, and the acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph takes about 7.1 seconds.
It is a 6-speed automatic transmission engine though shift paddles too are given as an option. Given that although there is a Wind Deflector, the car will need a lot of safety control, thus, the options include Front and Passenger Airbags, Brake Assist, 3-Point Seat Belts, Dynamic Stability Control, Crash Sensor, Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Brake Control and Run-flat Indicator.
Another optional feature is the Dynamic Damper Control, which is said to be stabilization the road irregularities, and thus giving a better suspension and ride quality. While it is so good at power and looks, the MINI Head-up Display, Harman Kardon hi-fi system and LED headlights add to the experience.
