Xiaomi has introduced their second generation of Mi Band called the Mi Band Pulse, which is coming with a Heart Rate sensor. The Mi Band which was released officially in July last year and was introduced into India earlier this year, a basic variant of the Mi Band was also launched recently with White LED notifications. With the inclusion of a Heart rate sensor this is going to become one of the cheapest fitness bands to sport a heart rate sensor.
The Mi Band Pulse will be sporting a Heart rate sensor or photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor to measure heartbeats. The new Mi Band sports the same design and form factor as its predecessor when seen from the front and sides, the heart rate sensor is placed on the back of the module. It will be working with both Android and iOS. The Mi Band 1S sports IP67 rating which lets you use the band under 3ft of water up to 30 minutes of time.
Added to the Sleep tracking along with the number of steps the new Mi Band Pulse now tracks your heart rate as well. It is capable of counting the number of calories burnt during exercise while measuring the number of steps. The Mi Band 1S measures 37mm x 13.6mm x 9.9mm and weighs 5.5 grams in weight.
The Mi Band was a huge success for Xiaomi offering a reliable and simple looking fitness band, the company mentioned that more than 6 million units were shipped taking Xiaomi single-handedly to become the second largest wearable manufacturer in the world at the time, having 24.6% market share. It sports a 45mAh Li-po battery with an estimated standby time of 20 days, going by the impressive battery life of the Mi Band we can expect decent battery life compared to the competition. It comes with LED notifications for calls and messages which can notify with vibrations as well. It can be connected with your smartphone using Bluetooth 4.0 LE.
Xiaomi has priced the Xiaomi Mi Band Pulse aggressively at just 99 Yuan approximately Rs. 1030 or US$ 15.59. The Mi Band Pulse will be going up for sale from November 11th in China, there is no update about its launch in India. The price of the Mi Band has been reduced from 79 Yuan to 69 Yuan in China which is approximately rs. 720 or US$ 11.
