LG has launched six accessories which are launched as companion devices to the LG G5 which act as modules for the removable battery module given in the LG G5. The accessories announced are 360 CAM, 360VR, Rolling Bot, Tone Platinum, Smart Controller and H3 by B&O Play. these accessories help in enhancing the performance of the device as per the requirement of the user.
360 CAM: This is a module for enhancing the Camera capabilities of the device. It comes with two 13MP wide angle cameras. It comes with 4GB of internal memory along with built-in 1200mAh battery. The cameras are capable of recording 2K video and microphones with 5.1 surround sound and recording is capable via three microphones. the images can be directly uploaded into Google Maps Street View and Youtube. Users can take 360-degree photos which is light and compact to carry around along with simple UI for ease of use. Street View will be storing full resolution images from the 360 CAM.
360 VR: This is a virtual reality headset as the name suggests and can be connected exclusively to the G5. There are foldable goggles provided for watching VR content on the go, and LG claims the accessory is “one-third as heavy as competing smartphone VR goggles.” which is pretty impressive. The 360 VR is compatible with Cardboard content and 360-degree images and videos captured with the LG 360 CAM which gives it a wide range of functionality.
Rolling Bot: This is a ball shaped camera apt with its name. It rolls around, capturing images and videos with its embedded 8MP camera connectable via Wi-Fi. LG claims the Rolling Bot isn’t “just a toy” and “can be used as a security system for the home, pet care companion as well as a remote controller for compatible home appliances.”
Tone Platinum: It is a Bluetooth headset having “superior” sound quality which is comparable to Harman Kardon Platinum. LG has deemed it “the world’s first Bluetooth headset equipped with aptX HD codec,” which means lossless 24-bit audio.
Smart Controller: Drones are the new trend and LG has introduced an accessory for just that, this can be used to Control drones, watch a drone’s video stream through the LG G5 in real time, and generally move other smart devices that LG has yet to reveal.
H3 by B&O Play: High-end earphones that deliver 32-bit sound. Unlike the other accessories, this one is compatible with all LG smartphones. With LG G5 coming with B&O tech it is going to be an added advantage.
LG has mentioned that there will be many other accessories or modules introduced in the near future called the companion devices. the six accessories are available now under LG Friends.
