HyperX, a high-performance product division of Kingston Technology has added another member to its HyperX Savage line of products called HyperX Savage USB 3.1 Flash drive. This latest Flash Drive replaces the Data Traveller HyperX 3.0 with the latest 3.1 Gen. 1 functionality USB technology. It gives blazing fast transfer speeds of 350MB/s read and 250MB/s write.
The Flash Drive is available in three options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, all three devices measure the same at 76.3×23.48×12.7mm in dimensions. For the 64GB variant the speeds are kept at 350/180 MB/s.
The Flash drive is designed to look stylish yet maintaining the aggressive look to go with the next gen PC’s and consoles giving it a metallic red X on a black background. Kingston mentioned that the Flash Drive can be sued on various platforms like desktops, notebooks and gaming consoles including PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
The Flash drive being USB 3.1 is backward compatible and can be used with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 as well. The Kingston HyperX Savage USB 3.1 flash drive is backed by a five-year warranty. There is no official update about the pricing from Kingston, it was spotted in Europe listed at around €36 for the 64GB, €76 for the 128GB and €120 for the 256GB version.
To get such high speeds almost similar to that of an SSD with a Flash Drive at this price is quite commendable. But be aware that you need at least USB 3.0 to get speeds close to what are mentioned, with USB 2.0 you will be getting very low speeds. If you are wondering if it supports Type-C ports, sorry it does not but if you are looking for one Strontium recently released a card reader for devices with Type-C ports.
