With the Apple TV 3rd Gen almost 3 years old now, a new version of the Apple TV is long due. There is news that in the September 9th Apple event we will be seeing the Apple TV 4th Generation being launched. There are some updates about the details of the latest Apple TV, like the availability and pricing of the fourth-generation Apple TV. Earlier this year in March Apple had reduced the pricing of their third generation Apple TV from $99 to $69, which suggests the launch of the latest version.
According to sources, fourth-generation Apple TV will be priced below $200 and is said to be available from October. It is said to be priced between $149 to $199 which is considerably higher than the earlier variant when it was launched. Apple has said that the third-generation Apple TV will also be in sale for $69 as the entry-level Apple TV product.
From the design aspect, the Apple TV fourth generation will not be much different from the earlier model, but it is said to be slightly wider and thicker in comparison. Apple is also providing a larger dedicated remote control with new and more tactile keys. This new remote is said to come with touch-based input and gesture support, which might be the new Force Touch being included in all apple products lately. With this remote, we can expect some updates regarding gaming being incorporated into Apple TV as well.
From the software aspect, the new Apple TV which is codenamed as J34 is said to come with TV-optimized version of iOS 9. With the inclusion of iOS 9 support, there is news about Siri support being included in the latest Apple TV. With the new physical remote coming with Apple TV it can be used to access Siri for searching content or beginning playlists from Apple music playlists. These can be activated by giving commands to your Apple TV from the microphone in the remote control using Siri. By searching in Apple TV using the new Proactive search feature users might be getting results from various sources like, iTunes Store, Netflix, Crackle App and Apple music library.
Apple will be including App store for the Apple TV and hopefully we can see third-party applications making way into the latest Apple TV. Coming to the pricing of the fourth-generation Apple TV which is said to be priced anywhere between $149 to $199, seems a bit on this higher side. With the pricing of the earlier model being dropped to $69, we were expecting it to take over the pricing of the third-generation Apple TV earlier pricing of $99.
