The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 in India is receiving a new software update, i.e. an update to the MIUI OS, which still remains at MIUI 7.1 but the update is an incremental one and it brings about a few fixes to the errors and issues in the current version itself.
The Xiaomi smartphones in China have been recently getting the new MIUI 7.2 update but that isn’t the one we are talking about, here, as the Redmi Note3 in India gets a new build, version MIUI-V7.1.7.0.LHOMICL.
While the change log is not as big it is for the MIUI 7.2 OTA update that is being sent to the Chinese units, it is well recommended that you update the phone as soon as you get the notification. If you haven’t got it in a couple of days, make sure you manually check for the update by going to the Updater app available under the Tools folder, which not just checks online for any available updates, but also helps you manually update your phone if you were able to fetch an update file from the MIUI forums.
The change log says it is only bug fixes and system optimization, but since the update size was about 120MB, it is recommended that you update your device.
The Redmi Note 3 is surely one of the best smartphones in its price range because of the specs to price ratio to begin with, but a lot more apart from that as well. The phone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor (reason why it is called the Redmi Note 3 Pro in India, since the Chinese variant has a MediaTek chipset), and two variants that differ by internal storage and RAM in them.
