Gionee has announced by reportedly sending out media invites for their latest high-end flip smartphone on March 29th in China. The Gionee W909 was certified by TENAA in China last month, the one thing which got everyone’s attention was the presence of dual displays on the device. It is said to sport dual 4.2-inch HD displays with resolutions of 1280 x 720 pixels.
The other noteworthy points are the inclusion of 4GB of RAM and Fingerprint sensor making it one of the first Flip smartphones to sport a fingerprint sensor and the 4GB RAM makes it a high-end flip phone. Other rumored specifications of the Gionee W909 flip phone is the Helio P10 (MT6755) processor with two variants based on RAM and Storage, 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage and a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant with expandable storage options up to 128GB using microSD card.
On the Flip phone, the top half of the phone sports two touch-enabled 4.2-inch displays whereas the bottom half has the T9 keypad on one side and the camera, flash and fingerprint sensor on the other side. The camera on the device is also quite good with a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It is powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop OS
There was no news about the W909 in MWC 2016 last month where the Gionee S8 was launched with 3D touch pressure sensitive display. The Gionee W909 is rumored to be priced around CNY 3,599 in China which is approximately Rs. 37,000 INR. With the launch date in China (accd. to Phoneradar) set at March 29th there is no update regarding the availability of the device in other markets like India etc.
