With the population increasing along with the number of cars plying on the roads, how nice it would be if we could zoom in between the traffic on a not so costly two wheeler like a Harley or a sports bike. In comes the GenZe 2.0 electric scooter by automaker Mahindra, which is not just a simple electric scooter but has many high-tech features as well.
The GenZe 2.0 is a proper Electric Bike which comes with an impressive 7-inch LCD display mounted on the handlebars which gives you a lot of information like the Charge levels, Range, Speedometer and the mode which is selected along with time. As we mentioned mode, there are three modes available for the user to choose from. Safe, Econ and Sport these modes when selected change the amount of torque available for the user.
In the Safe mode there is low-torque available on start and when the brake is applied the throttle is automatically deactivated. This mode is best for inexperienced drivers and learners. The Econ mode optimizes and helps in increasing the range of the bike. The Sport mode brings in more torque from start and it lets you get form zero to 30 miles per hour in just 8 seconds.
It comes with typical scooter design with a flat floor for foot rest and the body is made of aluminum which keeps its weight at 215 pounds. It has a 16-inch wheel up front and a smaller 12-inch wheel at the back to give more stability and riding comfort to the rider. There are front and rear disk breaks and full suspension which gives the bike quick stopping power.
Keeping the City, apartment user in mind, who will not be having a charger port accessible near parking. The GenZe 2.0 sports a removable 1.6 kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery pack stored under the seat. The motor running the device is hub-mount meaning there are nor chains or belts to be dealt with. To remove the battery for charging at home, you need to enter a PIN code on its touchscreen and use the key. The battery can be charged fully in about 3.5-hours using a conventional 110-volt wall outlet.
There is a storage bin called Back BayTM storage with 75 lbs storage capacity hidden behind the seat which helps in holding groceries or any small objects while traveling. There is a locking lid along with a soft top for the bin. The seat is comfortable as well giving you cushioning effect even on bumps. The GenZe comes with LED lights for the headlight, brake, and indicators on the front and back.
I personally feel it is a great commute vehicle for college kids of any user with a short commute distance with the cost of the device being saved in short time from fuel cost savings.
Going to Las Vegas for the CES 2016 event? That’s where you will be getting a preview of this electric scooter from Mahindra.
