Xiaomi has launched the successor to their first ever tablet he Mi Pad naming it aptly the Mi Pad 2, it has been launched alongside the Redmi Note 3. the Mi Pad 2 has been launched in China at a price of 999 Yuan for the 16GB variant. It is considerably thinner compared to its predecessor which was 8.5mm and the Mi Pad 2 is just 6.95mm in thickness. It is lighter as well going from 360 grams to 322 grams making it 38 grams lighter.
The Mi Pad 2 comes with a 7.9-inch display having resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and pixel density of 326ppi which is similar to the iPad Mini 4. It comes with a reading mode which reduces Blue light to decrease eye fatigue. The device is made of metal and is ultra thin and light.

The Mi Pad 2 is powered by an Intel X5-Z8500 14nm 64-bit quad-core processor clocking at 2.24GHz, Intel HD Graphics. It comes coupled with 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and comes with 16GB and 64GB internal storage variants. The device comes with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, there is no LED flash for the rear camera.
The Mi Pad 2 is powered by a 6190mAh Lithium-ion Polymer battery which supports fast charging with 5V/2A and gives standby time of 648.8 hours and Music playback of 100 hours, reading time of 12.5 hours and Video Streaming of 12.5 hours. The device comes with USB Type-C and supports fast charging. The Mi Pad 2 supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity features. The Mi Pad 2 is priced at RMB 999 for the 16GB variant and RMB 1299 for the 64GB variant in China. The availability of the Mi Pad 2 in other regions has not been revealed yet.
