Power banks have been one of the least exciting categories of gadgets for most people to talk about, however, they’re also the ones that are the most useful in some situations. Most of the features in power banks have remained the same for several years with subtle changes in design, capacity, and pricing. Realme has managed to bring in quite some innovation into their power banks this year while still keeping the price affordable at Rs 1,299 for the new 10,000mAh capacity power bank.
The Realme power bank looks amazing and offers a very minimal design with a slim body. The power bank comes with curved edges and is tapered on all sides offering a unique shape. The body of the power bank comes with a matte finish all over, the top and bottom of the power bank come in black color and there is a battery indicator LED adjacent to the power button of the power bank. The rear of the power bank comes with all the certifications and the supported power output models ranging from 5V/2A to 12V/1.5A.
This power bank can be used to charge not only your smartphones and accessories but also a Laptop, the Realme Power bank comes with support for USB PD standards allowing you to connect any compatible USB Power Delivery supported Laptop with a Type-C port and charge it. This feature has recently made its way on a few Windows laptops and the Apple MacBook Air and Pro this year. The power output rating of the Realme Power bank is 18W which is more than sufficient for most smartphones but feels a little underwhelming while charging a laptop such as the MacBook which is rated with a 30W power adapter. With limited to no choice of power banks for charging laptops, this downside can be easily overlooked and the power bank is still a lifesaver for many in dire situations.
The Realme Power bank comes with a USB Type-B and USB-Type C port, the device supports two way fast charging and you can plug in a compatible fast charging adapter to the USB Type-C port of the power bank to quick charge it, the device can simultaneously also charge another device such as a smartphone from the USB port provided. The USB Type-C port in the power bank can also be used to connect to other accessories, smartphones and even laptops using a USB Type-C to Type-C cable. Both the ports on the power bank have a maximum output capacity of 18W and Realme claims over 12 layers of protection to prevent overcharging and discharging. The Realme Power bank is very convenient to use and offers 18W Two-way fast charging. The superior Type-C port allows for a two-way fast charge, allowing you can fast-charge your phone while also fast-changing your power bank simultaneously.
Along with the Power Delivery feature that helps charge the laptops, there is also an intelligent low power mode to charge small devices like wearables and Bluetooth earphones. Both the USB ports on the Power bank can be used for output at the same time and can thus charge two devices simultaneously. Charging the power bank takes 6 hours using a regular charger while using a fast charger with a rating of 18W reduces the time to half by three hours. We tested the power bank with multiple smartphones such as the Honor View 10, Samsung Galaxy S9+, OnePlus 7T and the Nokia 7.2 and all the devices supported Fast charging through the power bank with a full charge in little over an hour.
