For good quality action cameras, there was good leader in the market – GoPro. Now, GoPro has a competitor from a brand famous for making drones, as DJI just launched the DJI Osmo Action camera. The camera costs $349 in the US, and this makes it a perfect competitor to the latest GoPro camera, the Hero 7 Black.
The DJI Osmo Action comes with dual displays, with one being the 2.25-inch touchscreen display on the rear of the camera and this has a water and fingerprint repelling coating. The other display is a 1.4-inch display that helps the user see themselves in selfies and vlogging. The camera is said to be having a rugged design, and it is waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof.
The camera has a 1/2.3 sensor and it can take 12-megapixel photos and there is possibility of capturing 4K videos at 60 fps. DJI has integrated the RockSteady EIS and that stabilization is possible even for 4K videos at 60 fps. There is a possibility for even HDR videos at 4K resolution and 30 fps. The company said that the lens cap has two layers of anti-fingerprint coating.
The DJI Osmo Action camera has a 1300 mAh battery and that is capable of offering a run time of 93 minutes when recording 4K videos at 30 fps with the RockSteady stabilization enabled. If the user is taking Full HD videos at 30 fps, the battery life goes up to 135 minutes.
The ISO range is 100-3200 for both, photos and videos. The camera has F/2.8 aperture and it offers 145-degree field of view. For the connectivity, there is Bluetooth 4.2 while the videos can be recorded with a MicroSD card and the best you can use for that is 256GB one.
The Osmo Action camera is priced at $349 and there is no date or information for the availability in India, while for the U.S., it is already available on DJI’s official website.
