Honor has recently launched the Honor 8X, in India. The Honor 8X, which is a successor to the Honor 7X comes with improved internals and new design. Realme who recently separated from OPPO has launched the Realme 2 Pro. The Realme 2 Pro packs in a Snapdragon SOC that is usually used in the sub 25k smartphones. So, how does the Honor 8X fair against the Realme 2 Pro? What similarities or dissimilarties do the two phones share? Let us find out through a quick specification comparison.
Honor 8X vs Realme 2 Pro
Design & Display
The Honor 8X comes with a glass sandwich design, whereas the Realme 2 Pro has a glass-like back. Yes, you read that correct, the phone has a glass-like back which uses glossy plastic to give that glass-like look. Although the Realme 2 Pro comes in attractive colored backs, the Honor 8X’s dual tone finish back is more eye-catchy than the former.
The Honor 8X comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels, while the Realme 2 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. Both the phones use IPS LCD panels that have a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smaller screen size on the Realme 2 Pro results in a higher pixel density of 409 PPI over the 396 PPI pixel-dense screen of the Honor 8X.
Processor, RAM & Storage
Both the phones use processors from different chipset makers. The Honor 8X opts for the homegrown HiSilicon Kirin 710 SOC, while the Realme 2 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 660 SOC. For graphics, the Kirin SOC uses a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU while the Snapdragon counterpart ships with Adreno 512 GPU.
The RAM and Storage options on the Honor 8X include 4 GB RAM with 64 GB of internal storage and a 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage. The Realme 2 Pro, on the other hand, comes in 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage, 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage and an 8 GB RAM with 128 GB storage variants. Both the phones offer storage expansion option up to 256 GB using a microSD card.
Cameras
Similar to every smartphone these days, both the Honor 8X and the Realme 2 Pro come with dual rear cameras. The Honor 8X comes with a 20 MP primary camera with a f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 2 MP camera for capturing depth information for portrait and bokeh shots. To the front, there’s a 16 MP selfie shooter with a f/2.0 aperture that sits inside the notch.
The Realme 2 Pro, on the other hand, comes with a 16 MP primary sensor which has a large f/1.7 lens attached to it, while the secondary camera is a 2 MP depth sensing unit similar to the Honor 8X. On the front, the notch houses a 16 MP selfie snapper with a f/2.0 aperture.
Battery
The Honor 8X comes with a 3750 mAh battery, and the Realme 2 Pro comes packed with a slightly smaller 3500 mAh battery. Sadly neither of the two phones come with support for fast charging.
OS & Interface
The Honor 8 and the Realme 2 Pro ship with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with the company’s custom UI on top. The Honor 8X comes with Huawei’s EMUI 8.2 on top, while the Realme 2 Pro uses OPPO’s Color OS 5.2 OS.
Both UIs have an iOS-esque feel and look, with many customizations and gesture features packed for convenience. Also, the phones are highly doubtful of receiving the latest Android updates.

The Honor 8X is priced at INR 14,999 for the 4 GB RAM variant, INR 16,999 for 6 GB RAM with 64 GB storage option and INR 18,999 for the 6 GB RAM variant. The Realme 2 Pro starts at INR 13,990 for the 4 GB RAM variant, INR 15,990 for the 6 GB RAM variant and INR 17,990 for the 8 GB RAM variant.
