Alcatel at the IFA 2015 has launched OneTouch Xess tablet, which comes with a massive 17.3 display, which the company is portraying as a multipurpose hub for providing recipes in kitchen, family use, for viewing films in living room and as a digital whiteboard for kids or to enter to-do lists. Apart from the huge display at offer, the other specifications of the device seem to be very under powered, which will be lagging as hell with normal usage.
The Alcatel OneTouch Xess tablet sports a 17.3-inch fullHD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is powered by a MediaTek MT8783T 1.5 GHz octa-core processor supported by 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB internal memory which can be expanded using microSD card. The device runs on 10,000 mAh battery which is decent but not top of the line for a 17.3-inch display running device. The device runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Alcatel has really compromised on the internal specifications of the device, with a very low powered Processor and 2GB RAM for such a huge device seems unacceptable, users are going to face a lot of lagging and the device will get slow by time. Alcatel is concentrating on making this as a device which will be used on a table top or on a platform, it comes equipped with some impressive dual JBL Harman speakers which comes with 3watts of power output.
Stan Hu of Alcatel, said
“Xess is one of our favorite new products because this big format is really family-oriented and has a multitude of uses at home or at work,”
