Qualcomm has just announced a Snapdragon Smart Protect technology to be used in the upcoming chipsets, keeping the data security in mind. Introducing improved privacy and mobile product security, the Smart Protect will be first coming to the upcoming flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 820.
Qualcomm says that the Smart Protect tech will be providing real-time, on-device machine learning designed to support accurate and effective detection of zero-day malware threats for improved personal privacy and device security. The Zeroth Technology from Qualcomm will be first used by Smart Protect, to provide anti-malware solutions and get the real-time malware detection done, and cause analysis using an advanced cognitive computing behavioral engine.
“With consumers storing more personal information on their devices, data leakage incidents and malware are on the rise. Qualcomm Technologies is uniquely equipped to address these issues with our ability to access lower layers of the software stack and dedicated security hardware, to create a device-based, behavioral analysis approach for mobile security,” “Snapdragon Smart Protect supports deep on-device monitoring for nearly instantaneous notifications of detected privacy violations and malicious activity while also providing great system performance and battery life.”
said Asaf Ashkenazi, director, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
The Smart Protect tech is not limited, and the OEMs as well as anti-malware app developers can take advantage of its API to perform analysis, and letting the users check for malware in real-time. Qualcomm is already working with Avast, AVG and Lookout to make the Smart Protect capabilities available in their apps, and help them be prepared against any potential attacks.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon Smart Protect will be a part of company’s security suite, named Qualcomm Haven, and this suite has Qualcomm SecureMSM technology, a hardware-based security protection technology. The other inclusions of Qualcomm Haven are Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID 3D fingerprint technology, Qualcomm Snapdragon StudioAccess content protection and Qualcomm® SafeSwitch technology.
