Xiaomi has launched its new mid-range smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 today in China. The smartphone comes with dual rear cameras, 5.99″ screen.
The Redmi S2 sports a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a 1440x720p resolution. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 625 chipset, clocked at 2.0 GHz and Adreno 506 GPU. It comes in either 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage or 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage variants. The storage can be expanded up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, with Xiaomi’s MIUI on top.
Redmi S2 has dual rear cameras that use 12 MP f/2.2 primary sensor, paired with a 5 MP secondary unit. The camera can shoot videos at 1080p and comes with EIS. The front-facing selfie shooter on the phone is a 16 MP camera, which has AI technology. Both the front and rear cameras are assisted by an LED flash to lighten up your photos.
The phone has a 3080 mAh non-removable battery underneath. It also supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5 mm headphone jack, A-GPS, GLONASS and micro USB port. The phone also comes with FM Radio and weighs 170 gms.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is available in Rose Gold, Champagne Gold, and Platinum Silver colors. The 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage variant is priced at CNY 999(USD 160/ INR 10,760), whereas the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage variant would cost you 1299 (USD 204/ INR 13,720). The phone will be sold exclusively on Suning.com, with no word about the availability in other markets.
