After launching three new laptops in its Notebook 3 and 5 range, Samsung has decided to launch a gaming laptop called the Samsung Notebook Odyssey Z. The laptop is said to provide unparalleled gaming experience while remaining reasonably cool.
The Odyssey Z is a 15.6” laptop that features a Full HD display and is powered by Intel’s latest 8th Gen Core i7 processors. The laptop is said to support up to 16 GB of DDR4 RAM at 2400 MHz and also comes with a storage capacity up to 1 TB NVMe SSD. It also has a 720p camera on the front and two 1.5 speakers.
For the graphics, the Odyssey Z is said to feature a Nvidia GTX 1060 with 6 GB of GDDR5 VRAM. The new Crater keycaps on the backlit keyboard are said to be designed for hardcore gaming performance, to deliver enhanced precision and comfort while gaming. The trackpad is located to the right and probably features Windows Precision drivers. The laptop also has a game capture/record key.
To keep the Hexa-core CPUs cool, the Odyssey Z comes with redesigned thermal management system called the Z Aeroflow Cooling system. The Dynamic Spread Vapor Chamber covers both the GPU and CPU from edge to edge, while the Vapor Chamber ensures that laptop’s hottest regions are cooled efficiently. The two Z-blade blower fans make sure users don’t feel the heat while gaming by removing warm air out from the vents. There’s also a Silent mode option to reduce the fan noise up to as low as 22 dB.
Commenting on the launch of the Odyssey Z, YoungGyoo Choi, Senior Vice President of the PC Business Team, Mobile Communication Business at Samsung Electronics said,
“With the Notebook Odyssey Z, we set out to create a dynamic, user friendly laptop that would take gaming experiences to new heights, from the vibrant display to powerful processing power output. The seamless visuals, combined with an industry leading cooling system will help give our players an upper hand in their gaming experience.”
The Odyssey Z comes with plenty of USB ports, an HDMI port, Headphone/Microphone jack and a DC-input port. The laptop is powered by a 54 Wh battery and is said to weigh 2.4 Kg. The laptop comes only in Titan Silver color.
As for the availability of Samsung Notebook Odyssey Z, it will be available in select countries including Korea and China in April, with US availability in Q3 2018.
