Samsung after launching its Galaxy S8 and S8+ flagship phones in the U.S. and other markets has come up with a budget smartphone in U.S., and it is the Galaxy J3 Prime. Not going to be directly available, the phone is going to be sold through T-Mobile and MetroPCS networks in the U.S.
While the device is already being sold through T-Mobile, the prepaid one costs $75 while on the installment basis, it would cost you $150 and that includes monthly T-mobile plans as well.
As for the specifications of the Galaxy J3 Prime, the phone has a 5-inch 720p display and it is a quad-core processor clocking at 1.3GHz and the amount of RAM is not mentioned on the website, but there is 16GB storage included, and a MicroSD card support for a storage expansion possible for up to 128GB. There is a camera combination of 5 MP rear facing camera with autofocus & LED flash & 2MP front facing camera. It is the TouchWiz UI on Android Nougat that you’d see running in the device.
The Galaxy J3 Prime has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, 4G LTE, Bluetooth and GPS as the connectivity options and the device is also WEA Capable. If you choose to purchase the phone through monthly installments, it is going to be a 24-month period with a monthly charge of $6 per month. Paying at once will cost $150, and a device purchase requires a SIM Starter Kit which will be added to your order automatically.
Looking at the specs, the phone doesn’t seem like a great deal but then, for the budget category, there are not a lot of options available for the buyers, especially from the well-known brands and that is where the Galaxy J3 Prime might seem like a decent purchase.
