After numerous leaks, reports and being in the news for a bunch of times, Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy S8 and S8 flagships for 2017. Though there is very little left for us know as most of the details along with the device and accessory pricing that were leaked a couple of days ago. Samsung has brought in some significant design changes to the S8 duo especially with the bezel-less display on the front.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus- Display: Samsung Galaxy S8 packs a 5.8-inches curved Super AMOLED (2960 x 1440 pixels) display. On the other hand, the S8 Plus; the bigger brother packs larger display at 6.2-inches curved Super AMOLED (2960 x 1440 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Though the screen size is bigger on the S8 Plus, both come with the curved display which is a trademark Samsung design. Both these smartphones support HDR and is also the Ultra Dynamic Range certified screen, but skips on Dolby Vision. Samsung has partnered with Amazon to bring in HDR content.
As you all know, the S8 and S8 Plus come with very slim bezels with three capacitive button placed below the display, while the usual set of sensors, front camera, primary earpiece are present on top of the screen.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus- Internal Hardware: The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are powered by the Exynos 8895 SoC clocked at 2.5GHz octa-core processor, and there is also a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 variant for selected regions. It packs 4GB RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.0 internal storage with a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 256GB. While markets like China and Korea, the 6GB RAM and 128GB variants will also be available. Though there is Sony Xperia XZ premium, ZTE Gigabit that rock the Snapdragon 835 SoC, it is the Galaxy S8 Duo are the first ever smartphones to power Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC that will go on for sale.
The new hardware button triggers Bixby; Samsung’s new virtual assistant with is capable of doing three major tasks. One is to answer users quires, second is to observe the world around you and finally the third one is to spot landmarks and find products.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus- Cameras: The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus feature a 12-megapixel rear camera with 1.4µm pixel size, f/1.7 aperture, dual-pixel autofocus, laser autofocus, OIS, and can record 4K videos.
On the front, there is an 8-megapixel front camera with f/1.7 aperture.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus- Interface: The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus run on Android 7.0 Nougat with company’s new improved TouchWiz U.I overlaid on top.

- They also have an Iris scanner that can unlock the device with your eyes.
- They both are water resistant
Pricing and Availability: The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus come in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold and are priced at $750/€809 for the regular Galaxy S8, while the S8+ is priced at $850/€909. The duo will go on sale on April 21. Samsung is also bundling a pair of quality AKG headphones with dual drivers and if you If you pre-order, the company is also giving a free Gear VR with motion controller too.
Then there is the Samsung DeX dock, which turns the Galaxy S8 into a desktop computer that also has slight support for Windows as well. The dock uses the USB-C port on the phone, which offers USB 3.1 speed and DisplayPort too.
