Expanding the Y series lineup in India, Vivo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched the Vivo Y66 smartphone. The smartphone has a design similar to the flagship Vivo V5 smartphone but there is some undermining of the specs done here for the reduction of the price. The highlight of the phone still would be the selfie camera, with Vivo putting a lot of focus on that area in the recent devices, even by including a dual-lens selfie camera setup on the Vivo V5 Plus.
The Vivo Y66 comes with a 5.5-inch HD display (1280 x 720 pixels) and the phone is powered by the MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor along with the Mali T860 GPU, along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. The device has a MicroSD card slot that helps in the storage expansion. Though, it is a hybrid SIM slot where you can either have a MicroSD card or a secondary SIM at once.
The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Funtouch OS UI, which is similar to what you see on the Vivo V5 and Vivo V5 Plus. There is a 13-megapixel rear camera with a LED flash and the front has a 16-megapixel selfie camera, which is also supported by the flash that is called the moonlight flash to naturally brighten the face in dark environments. There is an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and gravity sensor included.
The Vivo Y66 comes with a 3000 mAh battery and there is no support for fast charging. As for the connectivity, the device has 4G LTE with the VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. There is support for Jio 4G network but it should work on the first SIM slot. The phone is priced at Rs. 14999 and it goes on sale on both, offline and online platforms. The color variant available is Crown gold, which is a little shadier than the gold finish given on the Vivo V5, though the Rose Gold variant is also there.
