HP Chromebook x360 11 G1 Education Edition Announced

Google has announced the Chromebook x360 11 G1 education edition via a Google Blog post celebrating the success of Chromebooks in Swedish schools. Though Google hasn’t shared a lot of details about the new Chromebook, it mentioned that it comes with a 360-degree rotating hinge with USB-C charging, optional stylus, and an outward-facing camera.

However, it is likely that the new HP Chromebook x360 11 G1 Education Edition might be based on HP ProBook x360 11 G1 Education Edition that runs on Windows 10 Pro instead of Chrome OS. If that’s the case, the new HP Chromebook will be powered by the same Intel Celeron N3350 or Pentium N4200 processor coupled with 8GB DDR3 RAM and 128GB flash storage. It sports an 11.6-inches (1366×768 resolution) touchscreen display.

No details regarding pricing revealed just yet, but it will be available from mid-April, 2017.

Google in the Blog post:

We’ve seen strong momentum with Chromebooks worldwide, and today we reached a new milestone: Leading education analyst Futuresource has announced Chromebooks are the top-selling device across laptops and tablets for schools in Sweden. As we build out a new generation of Chromebooks with a world of apps for education, we are excited to see global educators lead this growth.

Mike Fisher Associate Director, Futuresource:

This is significant. Sweden is a leading innovator in EdTech adoption—seeing Chromebooks achieve #1 shows Google’s momentum within education.
