Nokia and BSNL join forces to develop 5G ecosystem in India

Nokia and BSNL have joined forces in bringing 5G ecosystem in India,  finding a reliable and cost-effective path for 5G network evolution for enhanced speed and capacity. This raises the possibilities such as remote healthcare, virtual reality, augmented reality, connected cars, and full automation of homes and businesses.

Nokia will take care of the smooth transition of BSNL to 5G ready network with the help of Nokia’s 5G FIRST end-to-end 5G solution. This will also include its AirScale radio access portfolio and AirFrame datacenter platform to demonstrate 5G capabilities and use cases of 5G extreme broadband and ultra-reliability and low-latency communication. Nokia is said to be using SDN (software defined networking), Multi-access Edge Computing and cloud technologies to upgrade BSNL to the latest 5G and compete with the world. BSNL will take advantage of the Nokia’s 5G-ready product portfolio and develop them according to the use cases for both enterprise and retail customers.

Anupam Shrivastava, CMD of BSNL, said:
