This could be more exciting than the flagships. The Nokia 3310, one of the favorite phones of all time for many, is finally going to come back with a new edition, according to VentureBeat. It was called the most reliable, it was also called indestructible, and even if it doesn’t match up anywhere close to the current-day flagships, the Nokia 3310 is a rock solid phone.
The 3310 was launched in 2000, almost 17 years back from now. The manufacturing was stopped back then, and it is only through some third-party sellers on Amazon that we can still get our hands on the device, mostly a used one. But, the news about the return of the Nokia 3310 is just too exciting. It is said to be coming back at the Mobile World Congress 2017 that is scheduled to be held at Barcelona.
According to the rumors, it won’t be exactly the same one but a new edition, obviously, as a tribute to the legendary handset. It might have just more than what it had in the past but Nokia won’t give it so much of power so you will still look at a feature phone. The price is rumored to be about €59, which is about Rs. 4200 in Indian currency, and even if that seems like a high price for a feature phone, many will want to get one just because of their love towards the phone.
HMD Global Oy, the company that holds the rights to use Nokia’s brand, has a perfect plan for the phone launches this year. After the introduction of Nokia 6 in January, the company is now said to coming up with four more smartphones and this tribute to Nokia 3310.
The Nokia 3310 was a big hit for the company, with the number of sales hitting up to 126 million, but the smartphone industry went ahead to become smarter and Nokia couldn’t adjust to it, ending up with the Microsoft acquisition and later being sold to HMD Global Oy. This might not be the only special introduction, though, by the company as it looks to get back the branding and respect that it had years ago.
