Gionee has introduced the Steel 2 smartphone in the Steel series at an event in China. The device comes with 4G VoLTE support and packs a massive 4000mAh battery that promises great battery back up. The Gionee Steel 2 comes in Gold and Black colors and the 3GB RAM variant with 16GB storage is priced at 1299 yuan (US$ 188 / Rs. 12,810 approx.). It is now available for order in China.
Gionee Steel 2 Specifications: The Gionee Steel 2 sports a 5-inches (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display and is powered by the MediaTek MT6737 SoC clocked at 1.3 GHz quad-core 64-bit processor with Mali-T720 GPU. It packs 3GB RAM coupled with 16GB storage and an another model with 32GB storage, however, the RAM remains the same on both and also has a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 128GB. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.5 UI on top.
In the camera department, it has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. The Steel 2 packs a Fingerprint sensor for extra security. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS. A 4000mAh battery that promises up to 45.45h of talk time and up to 7.94 hours of continuous video playback is given under the hood. For now, we know that the phone will be available only in China and the Steel series has not shown any sign of its appearance in the other markets but we will know about that very soon.
