WhatsApp is for sure one of the biggest apps for an smartphone OS because of the easiest chat platform that it offers, no wonder Facebook had to pay $19 billion to acquire it and it still is growing by numbers every day. When there were voice calls introduced by the developer, it took upon several alternatives and did wonders already.
Now, the even bigger feature is live on WhatsApp for Android. What else could it be other than video calling on WhatsApp? Free video calls are possible on only a few good apps, but for someone who is regular user of WhatsApp, they would love using the feature rather than using an alternative all the time, and that removes the need of an extra app in the phone.
So, in the guide below, we explain you how to do video calling on WhatsApp.
First of all, you will need to have the latest version of WhatsApp, i.e. WhatsApp 2.16.318 version and the APK of that is available as a beta app because WhatsApp app through Play Store is not yet updated with this feature.
Download WhatsApp Video Calling version
An important thing to note here is that you will need to request the other person whom you are trying to call, to update the app too. Only if both the users are on the latest version, you will see the video calling being possible. After the official update is done by WhatsApp on Google Play Store, you won’t be needing to download the APK of the app, but for now, there is no other way.
Once you install the app, you will now be able to make video calls.
Tap on the Call button in the chat page and you will see options:
- Voice Call
- Video Call
Tap on Video call. You will see your camera active instantly if the WhatsApp user on the other side has the latest version of the app and is able to receive the call. If not, then there will be an error message and you will have to prompt the other user to update their app.
