Detailed features and specs of the upcoming Google Pixel and Pixel XL has just leaked via an official listing. Online retailer Carphone Warehouse has accidentally revealed every info about the forthcoming duo in their product catalog page. This comes just before the official launch of the smartphones, scheduled on Tuesday, October 4.
Recently, we got to see a 360-degree video showing the Google Pixel and Pixel XL from every possible angle. Now, the in-depth specifications of the future handsets have been fully disclosed. The hardware of Google’s next generation smartphones exactly matches out with the rumors so far. They sport a dual tone coloring scheme in a metallic body and look identical to each except the size difference.
Google Pixel is the smaller one with a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, and Pixel XL is the bigger one with a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560) screen. Both are AMOLED panels covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Two of the smartphones are the same 8.6 mm thin with the Pixel XL having an increased length and width due to its larger display.
As expected, Qualcomm’s brand new flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 821 powers up both the handsets. Interestingly, the quad-core processor has the same maximum clock speed as the Snapdragon 820. The chip inside the Pixel phones run at a rather lower 2.15 GHz frequency instead of 2.4 GHz, the highest speed achievable by the Snapdragon 821. The GPU is the same Adreno 530.
The Pixel and Pixel XL both feature 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with 32 GB or 128 GB of inbuilt storage. According to the leaked product listing, the smartphones will also come with a micro SD expansion slot supporting up to 256 GB memory cards. The forthcoming Pixel smartphones will run on a newer Android 7.1 Nougat Operating System.
Speaking of the camera, each of the brand new handsets will sport a 12 MP rear unit and an 8 MP selfie shooter. The primary camera has an aperture size of f/2.0 with bigger 1.55 um pixels. The rear shooter does feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The fingerprint sensors of both the handsets are located at the back, just a bit above the center.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL will support Nano SIM cards with extensive 4G LTE support along with VoLTE (Voice Over LTE). Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 + 5 GHz), Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, etc. are also present. The Pixel is fueled by a 2770mAh battery while a 3450mAh cell juices up the larger Pixel XL. However, the rated power back-up is more in the smaller Pixel even though it sports lower battery capacity, which indicates that the large QHD screen of the Pixel XL does take a toll on the battery. Lastly, there is a dedicated 3.5 mm audio port.
Unfortunately, there is no mention of pricing in the product catalog, so that remains a mystery till the official announcement. Google will unveil the Pixel and Pixel XL on October 4, 2016.
